There are so many businesses losing buildings here to collapses its crazy. Huge industrial factories and steel building mostly, but Dairy barns too.
Happened in MA a few years ago...
Lots of snow a little rain...
Poof...
Structurally overloaded roof systems...

We were lucky during the high wind. We only had 3 shingles blown off our roof.

Had to leave last Monday for a week in SC for training. Its crazy they still think I can be trained. SWMBO gave that up long ago.

The plan was to have the stoker kept running while I was away with minimal effort by simply using the coal vac for filling and swapping in the four empty ash pans until I got back.

But the wind took down a tree which took out power Monday afternoon which took out the flat bed stoker.

Got back late last night and listened to the furnace heat , went through the re-light this morning. After about an hour of head scratching trying to figure out the real low (like 0.005) draft (even when using my heat gun draft inducer) I checked things outside and found the clean out cap off the bottom T of the chimney. Popped the cap back on and the draft immediately jumped to its normal .04 without the heat gun.

The basement is gradually getting back to its heat soaked state now.

Lost power for awhile here, started the generator for just the sump pump & an electric heater (just to keep the chill off). It didn't seem like it was going to come back so got a bunch of candles lit & was ready to throw some more circuits on for the generator & on comes the power. Don't know if we would have gotten any water in but better safe than trying to clean up with one leg & a cane. My garbage can ended up in the neighbors hay field so I started my zero turn to run out & get it, had three neighbors call to ask what the hell I was doing cutting snow covered grass.

Ahhh steel roofing verses shingles... steel roofs win hands down! Over screw to secure....winds don't do Chit to them!
