You can get this puppy for the low, low price of $25.99 installments, 50 of them. Total BTU output is 0 AND it's NOT Amish made! Hurry while supplies last.

This is for an article on the Thermosiphon loop suggestions and comments appreciated.

I would use the 'optional' PRV port for hot water loop...
A good thermosiphon requires minimal resistance...
Hot water does not like to go downwards...

Here is a picture of a typical install from years ago. the stand was pretty standard in height and was well below the fire, but this type of installation worked pretty well on boilers as well. 3/4 inch circulation lines.

I would use the tank tappings for both circulation lines.

The cold water should use a double tapped bushing to extend the cold water line deep into the tank.

A pressure and temperature relief valve could be considered but would need a tapping in the top of the tank.

This is just the image, the article will have more detailed description. e.g. "Ideally the bottom of the tank should be level with the cold water side of the themosiphon but it will work if it's lower".

I guess people have these working even ground level, yes?

I used the PRV port on mine and put the tank on blocks right next to the stove. The bottom of the coil level with the bottom of the tank. I think it works great.

Putting the tank on the floor would likely still work but probably wouldn't turn the water quite as fast.

I like it! That's exactly how mine is set up minus the mixing valve.

One thing to remember, you may be accustomed to those temps, anybody visiting your house will not be.

Over simplified but not incorrect diagrammatically.
Not a 'blueprint' to build off of...guess the 'Warning' might have that too covered.???

The audience is not engineers, it's Joe Six pack. I'll probably start using Sketchup or something else in the future but this is to replace an image already widely linked so it will have to do for the time being until I get time for better diagrams.

The warning is for Joe six pack that may not be aware of the potential bomb they are making and other issues if they do not do this properly. One thing I always have concerns about is someone reading something here and not fully understanding it.

That's a valid concern Richard. Sometimes I read stuff and have absolutely no idea what's going on.
