I saw Tom live about 14 years ago at Darien Lake. I'm not a huge fan but do love many of his songs, we even play some of them in my bands.. He put on a fantastic show, it was actually way better than I had expected. It's a shame to see him leave this life, it's much too early. He wasn't finished here..., he had much more to do.

I got Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, their first album, from a record salesman in early 1976. I still have it with the promo stickers on it. I remember bringing it home and telling my 2 younger brothers that this band will be big. They laughed at me, they were into Kiss and the like. 6 months later they were asking me to record it for them! Saw them 3 times between then and Hard Promises.
