Good day all you black rock burners! Come in, the coffee is hot & bacon, eggs, and toast will soon land on the table. Any raspberry jelly left?

My reverse psychology worked! Last week I said it didn't look like there was going to be any warm weather left, and then this entire week was warm, even hot, and sunny every day! We took the pontoon boat out twice, and the jet ski out once. I'd work in the morning, and take the afternoons off to enjoy the weather. I hope the nice weather keeps up.

Sadly, the people down south aren't enjoying this. Man, oh, man. Irma really pounded Florida. My local lumber yard is running short of lumber because of it. Last time a big hurricane hit there was eventually a shortage & lumber prices went up. This time the local contractors smelled a rat and are buying up all the lumber before a shortage.....and it's causing a shortage!

Hope you all have a smooth week. Hug your loved ones forward we go.

Good morning Fred, morning everyone.

Couple cups of black and it's out the door, I have one tri-axle load of stone to tailgate on a driveway and then it's off to the antique tractor show. This weekend is our local tractor-clubs annual show, tons of old tractors, hit and miss engines, sawmilling, threshing and harvesting demonstrations and more food than you can imagine. All of this on 21 acres of ground complete with a pulling track and permanent display buildings. Yesterday I took the day off and hauled/drove our equipment up. A Minneapolis-Moline G-1000 diesel, Ford 871 diesel, and two Caterpillar D-2's.

I sure am thankful it warmed up, the EFM still is not ready. We began the piping but so far we only have the manifolds finished. My friend Randy is coming by today to do some more work on it and I will check in with him as the day goes by.

Have a great weekend all, beautiful weather here in South-Central PA.

Good morning all!! Has been very warm up here also, built the chimney yesterday, got it up 12', will finish the top when the roof is on, I will take pics today, going to sand and paint the eshland this morning, then start framing the boiler building, been extremely busy lately. Don't forgot in these busy times though to make time for family.

Have a great weekend!

Good morning all, big happenings this weekend the Duck Festival kicks off. Maybe not so great for ducks & geese but a decent parade, dog training & dock diving, gun raffles, food, bee demo's & all kinds of hunting stuff. There will even be a Duck Queen elected, big doings for a small town but once again we'll have to listen to the war going on at the lake & bay along with all the birds thrown out along the roads, guess it's the killing for fun that causes that.
Still pretty warm here but I'll hopefully get my next ton of rice hauled home & put away then be set for another winter. Hope all stay safe & enjoy our fall weather.

I haven't made it to breakfast at Freddy's in quite awhile. Just wanted to duck in to say my wife and I have changed our plans and are NOT going full time RV. We mutually decided we like having a home to come home to. That means I don't have to sell my EFM 520! But it also means I need to scramble now and get the new coal bin built and get some rice in it soon.

Morning all,

Freddy, thanks for the grub, hope you don't mind I went for seconds.

Coaljockey, an antique tractor show, I'm jealous.

Hotblast1357, I could have used you when I put up my chimney.

Coalkirk, Nice to see you! Its never too late, I think mother nature will cut you some slack so you can get everything ready for winter.

Yup, it has been a very nice warm week. I was able to get in some very good cycling this week. Yesterday I got in a late afternoon 30 mile cycle which was done at full gas. The only down side was when I was coasting through a parking lot towards my truck. A lady in a mini van never looked before she backed out of a parking spot. I was six inches from her door before I came to a stop. She pulled away as I was trying to get out of the way of the back of the van as it came around. It was obvious she never knew I was there. It is sad how people do not notice what is going on around them. She had her phone in her hand as she drove away.

Today is slated to be an easy day today. Nothing too hard today except I really need to mow the lawn one last time. I believe my wife and I are going to a local festival today. We have never been and have heard good things about it. An easy cycle this afternoon followed up with a nice ten mile run with my wife late this afternoon. It will be nice.

The 507's are idling just above their stall line, keeping the house and shop warm at night and hot during the day. Since I had the truck yesterday I had planned to pick up a ton of coal for the house, however, it was not until I was almost home before I realized I had passed the coal dealer. What the heck. No big deal as I plan to pick up two ton this week.

Anyway, I hope everyone has a safe, productive and enjoyable weekend.

The Snowman.

I went to Kentucky to General Butler state park to meet up with some Ford truck buddies. A lot of guys couldn't make it because of the hurricane. I used a vintage 1958 Sears Ted Williams tent. Dennis

You're missing the rain fly on the main part of the tent...
I remember many years camping with that tent...
With the 'rents as a youngster...
I always did ditch patrol...
They picked the worst places to pitch the tent...
Never listened to me...

I have the rain fly, it was in the bottom of the bag. They weren't calling for rain , so I didn't use it. Dennis

The last time I used it was 7 years ago when I went racing in Byron Illinois. My father in law kept good care of it. We keep it in a trunk in the basement. I have his Coleman gas stove and matching table to cook on. Dennis

The fellow in the gray '52 panel truck drove in from Wisconsin. He was having generator trouble. He got pulled over in Indiana for driving too slow. Didn't get a ticket.

For the tent I even have the set up instruction papers. Dennis
