You sound like my old business partner....5 years ago when he was 64, we were planning a hunting trip in Kentucky. I was continuing on to Chattanooga where my wife was and he was running down to Fla. to spend the winter with family. He custom built a camper out of an old cap and slept where he could. Got into some jams when he went into neighborhoods to seek out old Navy buddies. Even if his truck was not old.....Most of the jams were when he was running back up the East coast. But what an adventure!

Last summer I spent almost 5 month living out of an old school bus in NY I had painted John Deere green while I was working out there. The first couple weeks I was sleeping in a Walmart parking lot of a Home Depot parking lot in Fishkill. In the morning I would show up to work driving the bus. Eventually I found a farm owned that allowed me to park up for the remainder of my time there. I left the bus on the farm and drove to work in my LUV.
The farm was wonderful. Good people, privacy, good price, security.
The Walmart was ok. The Home Depot attracted strangeness for some reason. One night I had to leave because of what was going on outside. Easier to leave than ask people to stop banging stuff around outside at 2AM. I think they were unloading a rack body truck with a diamond plate bed into a derelict camper being used for storage. The truck being unloaded was about a foot from my bus and they dragged almost everything on the diamond plate.
