Many of us know how painful it is to lose one of man’s best friend’s but I was not expecting this from my 4 1/2 year old dear girl. She went missing early Oct. 4. She was not on the front porch (her usual place) when I went out in the morning. Calling and driving around the neighborhood yielded no results. She did not return that night so the next morning I went searching around the woods next to the yard for her. I found her just in the woods next to my woodpile. She had died and was just laying there. I first thought that the coyotes had gotten her but she didn’t have a mark anywhere on her body just some blood that ran out of her mouth. I called my vet and she thinks Jessie had a brain aneurism that took her down instantly. This all happened a week after I came home from the hospital after major surgery. She would jump up on the bed and lay her head on my chest as she knew that her dad was hurting. One can’t put into words the hurt and pain from losing one’s best friend especially at such a young age.

Anyway just needed to air my feelings here as I know others here have gone through the same thing.

RIP my dearly loved Jessie:

So hard to lose a dog, they are the only animals that are ALWAYS happy to see you, even at your worst. There has to be a special place for them over that rainbow. Sorry to hear about Jessie...

Homesteader sorry for your loss. I lost my 12 yr old black lab last Saturday. He went fast also. Stopped eating and drinking on Wednesday nite. Couldn't walk by Friday. So we had him put down. I cried like a baby when I buried him. His name was Tyson. He was a dam good dog. Sounds like he is going to meet a good friend to run with!

Thanks for the support everyone. It means a lot to me. I do hope to meet up with her again when my time comes so we may walk the fields of gold together.

Our pets are family and they take a piece of our heart when they go. Prayers that somehow you get to have that back someday, HS.
