July 15th my loyal calico passed from this world. Wasted away from an unknown disease it looked likely she wouldn't be long for a while. She took my health issues pretty hard and it contributed to her decline as she wasted away over the time of my hospitalization. Finally had to put her down and buried her under the tree she spent much of her last couple months camped out under.
Born in early May 05 she was a big eye catching kitten. She was always a big strong cat until near the end. Fast runner and a good jumper she was a really patient mouser who stayed outdoors as much as possible and often had to be forced into the house against her will. She had a broken leg in the 1st year of her life and recovered, later she was hit on our driveway and took some damage but managed to recover and heal up well. These injuries never seemed to affect her much over the years.
She was a dedicated shop kitty who never missed a day and did her best to coax me out on days off. Frequently tried to get me to take walks in the woods when she thought I was stressed or otherwise out of sorts. She had a noticeable sweet tooth and always wanted to breath check for evidence of caramels or other goodies my wife or son ate. She loved to snuggle at the shop computer while i was working in the office. She expected me to be punctually in the shop and never could understand holidays and such. She was a pest about me going in for lunch on time and closing the shop and getting in on time. She'd get upset when i left for pickups or deliveries and would wait and watch for me to return.
She was a big softy with no idea how to fight. She was also a super caring cat who would always check on any sick cats. She got along with pretty much every cat and somehow became the cat they all deferred to. She also worried over her human family quite a bit. She was the last survivor of the litter of six kittens. The best pet I ever had she has definitely left a hole in my heart.

Meows To Stella! Thanx for the Story and for Sharing it. She's very reminiscent of Smitty's Computer Cat and how he looked on after Everyone. I'm sorry for the void and the vacuum she's obviously left behind.... Stay with it..

Our four legged companions only stay mad at for a few minutes then are lovey dovey the next. Not like our two legged companions.

Sorry for your loss.

Thank you all. There's no cat shortage(11 cats on the property yet) but some leave more of a hole for sure. My dad's been reminiscing about her quite a bit. At one point she was getting heavy so he told her not to eat as much and she started meowing/asking if she was allowed to eat. One of my dad's long time acquaintances made fun of her and called her a STUPID cat repeatedly, she got upset and never did have any time for him after that. She kept staring into the woods one day and finally my dad investigated and found a tree slowly coming down.

Thanx for the post Chad. :) Yep, critters become a part of us. I know my yellow lab is the best judge of character that I've ever run into. The new pup (11 wks. old) is just nuts at the moment!!!! LOL

Our cats are all starting to get old. Lost another two cats so far this year and expect to lose 2 or more yet this year. Blackie the matriarch passed away Feb 15th at 15 years and 4 months. She was a photogenic black and white tuxedo cat. She was the kitten that broke the no cats in the house rule. In her younger years we remember her chasing away a groundhog that was encroaching on her turf, straight across the lane into the field. She was a born beggar who lived for the sound of a bag rattling or crinkling. A low key cat she never seemed to make any trouble, Her and Stella were best of friends and she watched the woods for her pal up until the end.
Hailey passed away March 8th two months shy of 14. She was a cross between a torty and calico, always called her the china doll cat. She was a cat of many different meows and a milk addict that managed to meow "milk". She was also an exceptionally well behaved cat. She would beg for music to be playing.

That last pic looks just like my daughter s cat, Annie. That's short for Annihilator. She was very rough as a kitten. She was supposed to be a barn cat, but that only lasted 3 days. I don't regret it, she's one of the best cats we've ever had. Sorry for your loss.

There"s never a Good Time to lose a Faithful Pal! The fact that they stuck around as long as the did,and showed personality doing it,is a Testimony to the Home they had! Keep weathering Life's Moments!
