Very sorry Flyer, I know they live a long time and people get very attached to them. I don't know squat about horses, just people that own them. Usually very passionate. Hope you find a another to fill the hole.

Thanks everyone. We feel he may have had some sort of tumor or cancer. After his last bout of colic he lost a lot of weight and we could not get it back on. He was 15 and never coliced till last year.
It will be tough now when out in the pasture. He would follow me around like a puppy and steal any tools I left on the ground for more than a minute. Shovels, cordless drill. He was incredible with my daughter. He payed close attention to where she was and knew where his feet were. Just an awesome horse. I would even throw the cat on his back once in a while. I am going to have a hard time with this one.

Sorry to hear that, Dave. Sounds like you made the right decision - nothing worse than suffering. You did your best, and that's all we can do as caretakers of animals. Beautiful pastures you've got there - he certainly had a great life thanks to you. Take it easy.
