Ever notice that stories about strikes never note how much $$ the workers get paid ?

To be honest in my opinion strikes should be reserved as a last resort to deal with safety issues, abusive management, and limiting "mandatory" overtime. Not prying money from a company, pay is an individuals problem.

I remember when Unions (I was in carpenters- & truckers unions in Pa. back in the 70's) stood up for the workin guy. Now it seems like all's they care about is the hierarchy!! SAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I looked into joining the carpenter's union in the mid 1980's when I was living on Long Island. I'd have had to charge the union's very hourly rate and give half to them. The rate was so high that many carpenters went non-union at a lower hourly rate rather than sitting around a union hall not having any work.freetown fred wrote: ↑Sun. There were people wanting carpentry work done but not at what the union was charging. Some guys were so fed up with the union that they got out of carpentry into other types of jobs.
Another consequence of those high rates was that it pushed a lot of homeowners into the DIY catigory and helped grow stores like Home Depot and Lowes.

Avg Base salary is 15L or about $18 US dollar per hour. Not much for a nurse. US nurses make for more, closer to $40 per hour
Most US nurses are not worth what they pay.
The job isn't much different than a waiter or waitress.
Most everything they do is simple routine. Anything else it is follow protocol which probably means knocking it up to the next level.
My breathing is pretty slow. Often times I consciously take 8-10 breaths per minute. Every time I go to my PCP the nurse records 18. At the last visit I mentioned that to the doctor. Why record something that is a made up number? If the number is not important, eliminate it from the exam.
Go to a hospital or ER and try to get something for the patient. See how long it takes. Meanwhile all the nurses are sitting and or standing around a computer at the nurses station gossiping.
Pay attention to the cleanliness of the nurses and the building. Watch a nurse put on a pair of gloves and walk all over touching everything and then use those same gloves to do a procedure on the patient.
Most all of them lie and will do anything to protect their job.
I can't say it is the nurses fault. It is management. They don't want it any better. They set the protocol. The protocol never gets accomplished. They don't want to know that. They have protocol that everyone pretends to follow so management is very happy to claim it is followed.
