Has anyone ever noticed that 5 pounds of 11/2 dry wall screws costs the same as 5 pounds of 3 inch drywall screws?

Why is that?

The simple explanation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! would be that you are paying for the screws by the pound!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
An inquisitive mind!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D might conclude that the profit margin on larger screws is way higher because!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D There is less work and expense in making fewer screws!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you were a screw manufacturer do you think it would cost you more to make 1,000 individual screws with heads, or 200 individual screws that are just a little longer??? :D

Raw materials is more of a cost than the labor or time. Some items the packaging and labor cost more.

I interpret your using the term "mental masturbation" in your replies an insult and would appreciate it if you wouldn't do that.
Thanks.

The raw materials for 5 pounds of screws seems to be the same regardless of the length of the screw. The labor and or machining to make 1,000 screws would seem to be more than to make 200 longer screws.

Im only giving a link as I know Fred's techy skills arent as good as mine. The 2nd word cant be searched as I guess it isnt allowed, but the word mental can be. Here are Fred's posts that include the word mental. Im betting its been used more than that by other people too, possibly myself included. Its a somewhat common phrase here used for overthinking something. Anyway... search.php?keywords=mental+&terms=all&author=free ... mit=Search
