This year I ordered early ... if I order coal in OCT the bags always had some amt. of water .. which is a pain. No bag had water this year ! I store my coal in a garage so the only water in bags would be from the retailer.
When I did get bags with water I would transfer the bags' coal to 2 1/2 gal. buckets and put 3 in front of the Hitzer 503 to dry. Normally this did OK to mitigate the moisture. Really watery bags would be poked while on the pallets to make several 1/4 inch holes in the bag and free water would drain to point where the placement of the coal into the buckets and placed in front of stove mitigated the moisture issues decently.
I guess a washing machine pan would be available to all as a substitute for your pan too.
But adding wet coal to a hot bed of coals is always "fun" but not so fun.
Ideas to mitigate always welcome.
