I don't see how anything can be easier on a masonry chimney than anthracite. The fire ramps up and down slowly, the flue temperatures are not high, and there is minimal moisture.

Sadly, too many people will watch this & buy into it. I also have to wonder if this guy puts on rubber gloves & eats spaghetti with his hands also.

He's a darn good mason!
what makes you think you need a chimney liner for coal? I could show you dozens of homes without a liner. I had a 78 year old mason help me and my dad in 1991 rebuild and extend our chimney, No liner and we were burning oil at the time, i remember sal telling me that liners break, don't need them unless burning wood.
before you judge, this man helps many people with his masonry advice and tips. he gave me guidance on fixing my rubble basement walls and it worked! A waterproofing contractor gave me an estimate of 14 thousand dollars.
get the job done, who cares about the method! i use my hands to apply cement. works better than a trowel sometimes.

What is your opinion, or what do you disagree with? I'm not trying to stir the pot, just curious. I'm not a mason, but I do have a chimney that will need repairs at some point, and more information equals more knowledge. IMHO, of course.
