Hey all
Question for all you oil experts. I bought a new Exmark zero turn mower and absolutely love it, but I am not willing to spend $20/quart for their fancy oil.
Exmark Oil
Potential Alternative

Mower model is RAE708GEM48300 I don't know how much difference there is between one 10w 30 synthetic and the next. I think I understand diesel oil has more goodies it in then others which is why I went that route.

So what would you run in it for oil?

I looked it up, it says its gas, you got a diesel ? T5 is fine, but look in the book, if you can run 40w I would run T6 5w-40 full syn.

I have used this in all of my 4 cycle engines; 5 year old husqvarna zero turn mower, 15 year old Sears push mower and 17 year old John Deere tractor. This oil is actually made by Amsoil, first synthetic oil producer in the early 70s.

Any motor oil that meets the spec. With a mower you will do more damage if you air filtration get compromised than using a cheaper oil.

15w-40 is the recommended viscosity for your climate. Rotella is a fine oil, but they have dropped the SN certification on their 15w-40. Since you are under warranty, I would look for a jug of 15w-40 that still has "API SN" on the side...like Mobil Delvac.

That "diesel oil" he had listed is also formulated for gasoline engine use...it just does not meet the emission requirements of the more recent API specifications. There are others that are dual rated for gasoline and diesel engines.
