Do you have an indirect HWT that is heated via the plate exchanger, or does your plate exchanger directly function similarly to a DHW coil (sans for being remote from the boiler)?hotblast1357 wrote: ↑Wed. Feb. 14, 2018 8:45 amNo I do not, I could be using water when the heat is on.

With a plate exchanger feeding a indirect tank there would be an extra, needless zone circuit involved there, so not likely.

My plate exchanger feeds my electric water tank.

Like Larry's "remote tankless coil" description, right?

What is the purpose of a water tank after the plate exchanger ?..... Especially if circulation is constant thru the plate exchanger ?
Curiosity killed the cat, but without asking,i might never learn.
I have been using my plate exchanger since 2009 with no tank.

Yes kinda like a remote tankless, and a indirect all in one.
It gives me 40 gallons of buffer IF somehow my boiler can’t keep up, and it prolongs the life of my electric tank.

Yes that too, I am going to try to! But I don’t think it will be cheaper than electric, all depends!

You never know!
-25 below, boiler is on low side of aquastat set point, 156 degrees, basement radiators come on and house heat comes on, it will drop a little for a couple minutes.
