Construction issues...from stove?

A finish carpenter once told me he doesn't use wood for crown molding and such anymore because of the shrinkage, all plastic now.

That room is the only slab in my house, the rest of the house sits on a foundation with a basement. The large crack I'm getting is where the slab meets the foundation. Half the room has insulated attic above it the other half as you can tell by the slanted ceiling is the actual roof...insulated of course. The join where the rooms meet and the join where the slanted ceiling meets the flat have always been trouble areas. I do have small cracks on seams showing up in places that I never had them. I used to have wood paneling in the room. I did get corners cracking on the paneling, but not seams. I'm starting to think it's a mix between the room not being able to shed the heat/dry air and the slamming of the heavy metal garage door I installed. I swear it shakes everything when my kids slam it. I used to have just a hollow wood door. Codes of yesteryear...haha!

The brutal cold & so quick has caused the ground to heave your slab floor.

You could put a wide,flat trim piece over the areas that crack,install the trim to make it look planned,no one will ever know you had any cracks.....

Funny...I was just discussing this same idea with my wife last night. I told her I can cover the crack with some finished wood to make it look like a beam. We'll see how my repairs go in the spring.

Install one of these in your metal garage door. It will keep the “slamming “ down🤪.

And those issues are soooooo minor, look how my garage door trim is not ever installed yet after I put the door in 8/17 hahahahahahahahaha

I’d rather work on my plane or earn money on side jobs.....priorities I guess
