I did a quick search of the forum and didn't see anything about this new (To The U.S) Technology... Also didn't know where to put this post, although it does have to do with venting...
I am in the process of installing my new LL AK-110 Stoker and was doing some brushing up on cold air returns and such...Came across this new ventless clothes dryer technology.... Since the goal is to keep as much heat in the house as possible, it got my attention. Before finding this, I didn't realize a full size clothes dryer like we have pulls 230cfm of conditioned (Cooled or heated) air out of the house. To put it in perspective, it takes 69 minutes to completely suck all the heated air out of my 2000 sq ft ranch! In which replacement air is getting sucked in anywhere it can! Definitely got the gears turning! No wander I can feel cold air coming in around things like Outlets in the dead of winter! Yes even outlets! And I thought I had a fairly decent insulated brick ranch!
So just throwing this out there for discussion....Anybody have any experiences with these Condensing (Heat Pump) style ventless dryers? Would definitely ease the heat and cooling load on any HVAC system and give a decent ROI because of the energy efficiency...

They are very inefficient and take a long time to dry clothes. You'll need a way to vent your frustration if you get one.

Got one. ( Bosch )
Uses a little more juice.
You have to clean out the lint.
You can put it anywhere.
Expensive little booger.
Hang your clothes outside when you can.

Get a standard dryer and one of these if you want to keep your air inhouse.

That thing is less than a quarter of the size of the one I posted. I installed one for a friend. It works very well and has a proprietary two stage filter. The problem I have is that it must be cleaned every load or efficiency takes a beating. I am also not a fan of pumping all the humidity into the house. In winter it's not a bad idea, but summer months and it is coo coo. I'm not a fan of ventless anyway, would not go that route myself.davidmcbeth3 wrote:https://youtu.be/KksTAghMajk?t=51coaledsweat wrote:Get a standard dryer and one of these if you want to keep your air inhouse.

If you want a truly ventless clothes dryer,.... that also helps humidify the house in dry winter weather,... doesn't beat and wear out your clothes into lint needing to be filtered out,...and doesn't need any electricity to do all that, ...
Clothes line + coal stove.

A cracked window in the laundry room does a lot to not pull air from every crack in the house.
For my house I would need 500' of clothes line to keep up.

Or, ...... having lived with a wife and four daughters who were all wardrobe queens, I know that even this one works, 'cause we had one to go with our biggest capacity washing machine available.

And I know that your clever enough to be able to mount it next to a coal stove.

Paul, I have caved in on the laundry. Been there and done that with the rope and the one that looks like an antenna. I turned an old bathroom in the upstairs of the house into a laundry room, now the laundry has to go a maximum of 15' to get washed and dried. I have the biggest washer and dryer that will fit in the house...cut the laundry time in half and knocked the electric bill down about ~20$ per month also. Having unlimited hot water from a coal boiler and cheap electric helps also.
In the winter when the EFM is cranking I do hang up some of the heavy stuff in the basement. The rest of it never comes downstairs.

More interesting stuff!

Don't know if I'd go this far, but still interesting...It would fix the "Infiltration" issue!
