Took a big step today, signed the papers with a realtor and will have our house listed for sale next week. The whole selling process and thought of moving out of my home town is giving me a sour stomach, but so is the long commute for my wife and I. Updates to follow.

Went through the same moving upstate after 41 years living in the same area I grew up in.
Just think of it as going off on a new adventure. New places to see, things to do, stores to find, and new friends waiting to be made.
Good luck in the new home.

Congrats.
They couldn't fit it on the license plate, but I think the motto is "You're in Vermont, do what you want."

Good luck to you and Mrs. Rob. My only upside to moving was being able to get rid of the crap-o-la that we would never need, wear, or use again.

Good luck! You and your wife will have 2 more hours a day to spend with the Kids instead of doing a miserable commute. It is most likely one of the greatest decisions of your life. Smart move for your marriage and your family. It will add so much to your life!

On the + side, Vermont is a "Constitutional" carry state. Meaning you do not need a permit to own or carry a firearm either exposed or concealed.
Best wishes and good luck with the move.

The strong winds we get in the winter are normally from the West or Northwest...the lake is on the East side of me. It just picks up speed before it gets to VT. We have not found a house yet, but based on what I have seen so far there are quite a few in wooded areas. Living in the woods has its own set of drawbacks, but at least it would be less breezy.Lightning wrote:Maybe the winters won't be quite so severe. I remember you saying you get quite a breeze off the lake at your current location.
Not sure yet. Our realtor seems to think the EFM is a nice addition to the home and that a lot of people would like an option besides heating oil. If someone wants it I will leave it here, if not....it is coming out. Burning coal would not be as easy or economical in VT, primarily because I would no longer be splitting TT loads with my dad and brother. The availability of anthracite is not as good as where I live, but that may or may not be an issue.waldo lemieux wrote:Are you planning to haul the EFM with you or are you int the market for a new one.
