But the Crown Victoria got excellent fuel economy!
24 highway. I have seen 26 mpg, We rented a brand new grand marquis in 1989 for a week trip to Virginia beach. My 5.0 HO converted 86 Town Car with 3.73 gears gets 22 mpg highway.
Yeah, the Crown Vic was one of Ford's best ideas. Just an example of all the games they've had to play or wanted to play to get around the CAFE and safety stuff. Chrysler's PT Cruiser was somehow officially a truck so it didn't have to meet auto side impact protection. Trucks din't have that back then.

I test drove the truck yesterday. It drives nice, the dealer is waiting on a new door weatherstripping, the original was damaged, they replaced the brakes too and it's got a fresh oil change and new inspection and emissions.
will pick it up monday or tuesday.

I have to give credit where credit is due. Every ford truck i even had ,had a great ride. lots of other problems but a rough ride was not one of them.
