Got me thinking, how much does a 747's fuel weigh. About 350,000 lbs. No idea what batteries would weigh.

Maybe, no probably not but they will become a smaller part of the equation. Time marches on. Change is inevitable. I do know if we are ever to be able to travel space it won't be with conventional methods we use today.

However heavy the batteries have to be to equal the energy in 350K pounds of fuel ?

But the kicker is,.... the batteries always weight that much from takeoff to landing. The jet fuel load gets lighter as it gets burned off, which means as it burns the less load there is the less energy needed to stay in the air.

There's no gravity induced weight penalty once you're in space like there is on Earth.

I'm talking space travel that would allow us to explore the outer reaches of space. Light years away. Rockets aren't going to cut it. My only point being that change is inevitable so never say never. 100 years ago we used horses for transportation. Battery tech is in it's infancy. The more we explore the possibilities the more advanced the tech will become. Maybe batteries aren't even in the picture in the not too near future.

And the airplane lightens and puts all the pollution into the air.

The big punchline is the $ 590 in savings of fuel times 365 days

is a savings of $215,000 per year.

Just like the Tesla Semi it saves enough in a short time to be able to

buy more cost savings electric trucks.

Come to the future...And enjoy the savings...

And the EV leaves it pollution causes back on the ground.

But don't worry, your EV planes will be back down very soon because of the short-range need for more of that pollution-powered grid. That is, if they can find a place within range to land and recharge. Bring a good book and a sleeping bag.

The Germans tried your "green future" and they are tearing down windmills to open a coal mine. What do you have to say about that "future" BB ?

I think the German's problem came with their dependance on foreign gas that didn't pan out as planned.

This energy shortage is not "all of a sudden". They knew long before the Ukraine war that renewables were not going to be enough. That is why they relied so heavily on Russian gas when other countries were putting sanctions on Russia going back to not long after the first invasion in 2014.
