All cars should pay road use fees.

Fossil fuels should pay a pollution tax.

EV's should pay on the type of generation they utilize.

All cars do pay, the taxes are part of the cost of fuel.

EVs should pay road taxes to help pay to maintain the roads they are using same as ICE vehicles, but they don't. And since they don't pay it in fuel taxes, they should pay a much higher utility rate when charging to help with road maintenance costs. Then it would be based fairly on how much charging they use, just as ICE vehicles pay more tax when they use more fuel.

How about EVs be taxed for the pollution they make to be produced. The massive cleanup of just the mining operations of all the toxic heavy metals to make their batteries would make ICE pollution look tame.

You still burning coal, BB or did you switch over to a backyard windmill to power you home heat ? :D

That's like saying no one has peed in my end of the pool therefore there can be no pee in my end of the pool.

NY does not HAVE any coal-fired power plants, however, NY is part of a very large grid with other States and Canada - parts of that same grid having power plants that use coal,..... so your using coal-fired power even if you like to think you are not. ;)

This electricity supplier BS is such a scam. I am in a rural area near the end of a power line. There is no three phase down here so there is one wire supplying everyone. I have a neighbor across the street and we share a transformer. I can be buying plain old electricity and he could be buying 100% renewable and i am to believe that the electrons coming down that single wire are designated as renewable and non renewable? If I were to sign up for a renewable energy plan at least turn my power off after sundown on days that there is insufficient wind to turn a windmill. Fortunately all the renewable rates available to me are 50% to 100% higher than the unspecified sources so I will never sign up and find out.

I pay taxes on electricity ... so I get hot with 2 taxes for my EV use?

A pollution tax ?

EV pay for generation they use? I don't know what that means but am guessing more taxes.

BigBarney loves taxes for some reason.

Maybe the gov;t should stop spending. They already spend more than they take in now.

If solar and wind are competitive with FF ,why are the rates much higher. Perhaps they are NOT.

Well, they can be. Its location location location specific for solar and wind. Wind can be the best.

But politicians want to put wind mills in places that get no wind and put solar panels in places that get little sun.

If your state has PV or wind programs, go see the paperwork. Then call folks who participated and learn their energy creation. I've done this, most are happy to talk about how good or poor their purchase was.

I'm not for more taxes ... Only pay for what you use... And the pollution caused by it...

Tax mileage similar to the way trucks are taxed...

And have a carbon tax on ALL energy by fuel...

Simple isn't it...
