Toyota on a path to being irrelevant in the auto industry..

They are on the wrong path... Building 400,000 ICE engines..

https://pressroom.toyota.com/toyota-invests-383-m ... roduction/

What a pile of BS...Hybrids are an obsolete technology whose time is past..

"Engine, casting investment across four US states furthers vehicle electrification efforts"

Yeah, what a stupid business move,.... catering to 98% of the market instead of staking a multi billon dollar company on only 2% of market share.

Simon,
The way fuel prices are going,.... and what with you and Fred having the "horsepower",..... forget Landcruisers, get a jump on the market for prairie schooners.

When all those gas guzzlers and EVs are dead on the side of the road, thanks to this administration's energy policies, you'll be tops in transportaion. :D

Back in my hippy days I road in one of those schooners.

Friends and in-laws chipped in and hired one to take my new bride (now ex-wife), me, maid of honor and best man from the church to our reception ,.... under a tent in a sheep pasture. Tied up traffic for a mile. And then lots of laughs watching everyone all dressed up and trying not to step in sheep poop. :D

Looking back, maybe it all was a warning of things to come ????? :?

I just got back from two days in Montreal, the land of cheap electricity and $7/gal gasoline. Although I did see a large Tesla dealership, I can count the electric cars I saw on my fingers.

Toyota knows that they will continue to sell millions of ICE and hybrid vehicles. When they think the market is ready, they will react.

Toyota hybrid Prius sales are down the tubes, who would want one

when BEV are a much better choice?

https://www.goodcarbadcar.net/toyota-prius-sales-figures/

https://www.goodcarbadcar.net/total-toyota-prius- ... s-figures/

Why would anyone want a hybrid when you can have the real thing

without all the ICE maintenance ? Two systems to maintain.
