This is what happens when you rely on your parts bin for new vehicles...
The suppliers of these old chips do not want to produce a part that is
technically obsolete , but the auto companies still want to incorporate
these in their newer designs.
I f you were a chip foundry why would you want to go backwards to
to try to supply old cheap chips or give state of the art chips the preference
to low volume and low profit parts? Why waste your limited resources on
these parts?
Today at 3:00 pm autoline will have a weekly after hours podcast on the
right to repair vehicles which many of you would enjoy, see you there.
It should be a good show..

One thing we can all agree on is that it is a BIG mess. I do not see an easy fix

TSMC will never go backwards to make these chips. It is to hard to stop the race to be the planets no 1. For instance if TSMC fails the F35 does not fly

"The F-35 Joint Strike Fighter still suffers from 13 serious flaws, including a gun afflicted with cracking and accuracy issues. The software that runs the jet also has nearly 900 bugs. The problem is complicated by the need to patch nearly 500 jets already built and in the wild. "

The US Air Force Quietly Admits the F-35 Is a Failure
"The Air Force has announced a new study into the tactical aviation requirements of future aircraft, dubbed TacAir. In the process of doing so, Air Force chief of staff General Charles Q. Brown finally admitted what’s been obvious for years: The F-35 program has failed to achieve its goals. There is, at this point, little reason to believe it will ever succeed."
