This is where the future of EVs is headed. BB can look back and call these the good old days.
https://www.notebookcheck.net/Tesla-charging-cost ... 607.0.html
And it will only get worse as more load is put on the grid when a lot of the mandates to switch other energy uses to all electric kicks in. Insanity ! :baby:

That "animal polution" will start to look more like a solution.

"On average, an electric car loses 1-2 miles of range per day when parked or sitting idle."
Something else to think about. Your charge just evaporates over time.

There are "parasitic" electric drains in all modern cars. Slow power drains needed to keep all the computer stuff going. At least with an ICE car it does not affect driving range, so no need to keep it "plugged in", except during very long-term storage.

Seems that the grid is not the only thing that EVs are going to put more stress on.

Won't have to worry about any flood damaged Teslas for sale up north in the next few months, they come with a self destruction feature to prevent this.

Waiting to see how well they hold up (hole up) to our winter salt covered roads.

Two hours and 12,000 gal. of water to extinguish. There was one earlier this year that burst into flames while parked in a driveway. About 25 mi. from me in Montgomery county. A neighbor's surveillance camera caught it igniting. Went up like blowtorch and the home soon caught fire as well. Total loss to the home. That must have been quite the cluster of lawsuits! ICE cars catch on fire regularly around here as well, but they're easier to extinguish. That's usually from electrical shorts or low information owners fiddling with fuel lines and crappy filters.

I only know what I read on the web about Leno's accident, but supposedly he was working on one of his steam powered cars. I guess that has a gasoline fired pre-heater for the boiler and he got sprayed.

Yes, it was while working with one of his White steam cars. They are known to occasionally spit gasoline back out during the complex process of firing up the boiler. There is a previous video of him explaining how to start one and he admits they can do exactly what later happened to him.

He was released from the hospital today and a pic he posed for with Nurses shows he doesn't look too bad.

Another reason to buy a Tesla
https://www.businessinsider.com/tesla-orders-owne ... ge-2022-12
All part of the Tesla driving experience. Just sit back and enjoy it.

I have a Chevy Volt. I tested to see what happens when out of electric battery power and gas. It went into economy electric mode (digging into the battery one last time) and allowed 5 miles@45 MPH max. I got to a gas station with 1 mile left !

I also drove it over 100 MPH...it basically shuts down the propulsion..100 MPH max for the car. No more driving 150 MPH .. bummer
