Barney, you're lost. My comment was about gasoline and diesel, not lubricating oils. In a 42 gallon barrel you'll get about 20 gallons of gas and maybe 11 gallons of diesel. Playing with the tower or additives isn't going to change those numbers. When all they are making from crude is plastic for your miracle EVs, there's going to be an awful lot of waste gas and diesel. What do you think they can do with that? Pour it in the river? Burn it off?
You don't understand the refining process , the distillation unit supplies the feedstock
for all distillate products , and can be reformed to any petro chemical. They do not come
out as finished products they need more processing.

You seem to think crude in and gasoline out thats not how it works , many more processes
are needed to make a usable fuel either gasoline or diesel, this is where the combining and
cracking are done to make a finished product.
There is very little waste by using all the components. If anyone would build a refinery today
they would have a $5+ billion cost which could not be justified, and it would take 10+ years.
This is the same problem with chips for cars you can't magically come up with a plant and have
the people to operate it ,it is a long time from plans to plant , but politicians have no idea of what
is involved.

My electric rates for Central PA just jumped 25% again after jumping 20% last Dec .Compared to 1 yr ago they are up over 100%. So much for that 8 % inflation rate. Driving Electric just got more expensive.

I'm sitting on my patio I'm Wyoming.. Bluetooth speaker playing, Pellet smoker running all day with a pork butt, and I'm proud to say it's all being powered by coal.

Absolutely!! Saw numerous trains full of it heading east while driving west on US 20.
Pretty sure one of those carloads would last me the rest of my life.

Likely its sub bit. The air in many western states is clean enough where they can burn about anything for electric power. ND its lignite. Im not sure how many coal plants are left in MN but I think they used Wyoming coal. Most of the city plants have switched to NG here. Our air being clean is why we dont have to test our cars for pollution either and i hope we never do.

2013 Tesla for sale. Only 75,900 miles on it and $22,000 two years ago FOR THE NEW BATTERY IT NEEDED.
https://denver.craigslist.org/cto/d/denver-tesla- ... 28916.html
Replacing the battery was more than the cost to buy the used vehicle.
https://www.foxbusiness.com/technology/florida-fa ... re-vehicle
Then there's the problem of servicing EVs and the higher costs to do that is reducing the selection of where to get service/repair that is less expensive than the dealerships.
https://www.foxbusiness.com/economy/electric-car- ... t-serviced
What happened to the rest of the "million miles" we're told an EV can go ?
A very expensive way to "save money on gas".

Don't buy the Tesla with the self parking feature until they work all the bugs out.

I wont be buying anything that requires dealer only service at $200 an hour . And the nearest dealer is 4 hours drive. If an electric is ever parked in my garage it will most likely be a GM product. Have had great reliability with GM from my 1st one in the 70s until the 4 we have now. 2 trucks 2 cars.gaw wrote: ↑Mon. I don't believe that's correct. A 42 gallon barrel of oil makes approximately 19 gallons of gasoline, 10 gallons of diesel and 4 gallons of jet fuel (Kerosene). The rest goes to finer liquids, heat, and plastics. I understand through chemistry they can change that a tiny bit, but not much. So.... if ALL cars become electric..... what happens to all the gasoline?

They'll do what Rockefeller did at Standard Oil when all they wanted was kerosene and the ICE wasn't invented yet. They'll pour it in the rivers.
