I took my 2007 Buick Lucerne in for some work. The service manager promptly told me the magna-trac shocks were leaking oil and needed replaced. I said ok how much? $1700 each. Lol. I said that’s double what I paid for the car. I’ll get by.

I was researching a Cadillac I was considering purchasing and the cost of those struts was one thing I looked at. You should be able to replace with regular struts. Not sure what they are now but six or seven hundred for all four as complete assembly when I did them a few years back on 06 Lacrosse. It's an easy driveway fix with the full assembly.

I believe you have to buy adapters and solder in a resistor somewhere to keep the idiot lights off. I researched it a few years ago. I think the whole thing was still approaching more then the cars value.

TBH I only notice them when going through curves at high speeds. The car wallows pretty bad.

I should of said I don't the specifics. A few years back I was looking at a Caddy that had those struts and researched it. I came across the information about just replacing them with regular ones.

The car I put them on only had 114K at the time and was pristine as far as the body went. At this point it looks like I should be able to get 200K out of it as far as the body goes so it was well worth it. I need new tires and once the new ones start getting near replacement I'll sell it. :D
