NYC accepts new backhoe...Instant Torque no wait... Save big money...

“At low idle a diesel engine has reduced torque and requires time for the engine to ramp up to meet the load demands. Electric motors, on the other hand, have instantaneous torque and peak torque available at every operating speed.”

https://cleantechnica.com/2021/03/29/case-announc ... eliveries/

Case says the fuel and maintenance costs are reduced by 90%, and that most users will recoup the extra costs within 5 years of operation.

Its a no brainer.. Uses no energy except when needed.

Looks promising for anyone with the right usage pattern of the machine. Makes sense a backhoe is first, I expect a mini excavator will be next. Both tend to do small jobs and go back to a 'home base' in-between.

Larger equipment tends to get trucked directly from job to job to minimize trucking fees. For that I think a hybrid setup makes more sense (like the Hitachi in the link below). Getting fuel to equipment that is far off the road is not always easy, so anything that gets more hours out of a tank of fuel is worth a look.

They are ready have electric mini excavators. I see plumbers using them inside buildings running new mains.

I've seen those - I was thinking about something like you would use to install a septic system.
