Must be that year or a real thin frame, hell my 2001 F350 had #5200 of coal from NEPA in 2016 with over 375,000 on it and the cab looked like a block of Swiss cheese but the frame was still in decent shape for a NE Ohio vehicle.lsayre wrote: ↑Sat. Feb. 06, 2021 3:48 pmAbout 4 years ago, our 2004 Ford F150 Lariat cracked in half while up on a lift in the shop getting a brake job. Almost killed the mechanic. The only thing that saved him was that a customer had just arrived and he stepped away from under the truck to greet and speak with the customer when our truck suddenly split in half behind him.
Who would buy a Ford F150 now ?????

You won't have to worry about rusted frames with an electric F150, they will be scrapped long before they rust as the replacement battery cost will out weight the trucks value!!

This is how I am operating now. Did it for years and made the mistake of buying new when I could afford it at about 40 years old......Just broke the cycle at 60 and ain't looking back. But I live in no salt country.I haven't bought a new pickup since 1978. Once the new smell is gone, and you have dented the top of the gate loading it with a forklift, it's just another old truck. That's when you start thinking what a dumb investment buying it was.

If the truck or car isnt old enough to vote I dont want it. It wont be long and my cars will have to be eligible for AARP or SS before I buy them... I already have one of those. I only came close to buying new once in 1986 when they were unloading the last Ford carbureted trucks for about 8K. Its been somewhat downhill since, at least after 1991 with Ford, Chevy a few more years.
WNY:
I think ALL vehicles using the roads should share in their maintenance
costs.
Here is Colorado's version....RUC road usage charge...
https://grandavebridge.codot.gov/admin/programs/ruc/ruc
https://www.codot.gov/programs/ruc/documents/rucp ... nal-report
I scanned the report and still have no answer... There are many things
to consider...
If this was adopted it would have to be instituted with a carbon tax on
petroleum fuels for their effect on the environment, but this a separate
issue...

Oh, then the electric cars would have to pay it also because....where do the electrons come from? Which came first? The chicken or the eggs.....

It's going to require a lot of new nuclear power plants, and generate a whopper load of new need for uranium (the resource that Obama and Hillary sold off to the Russians). If the worlds governments are bent upon killing off fossil fuels (such as they are), then that leaves only nuclear as a viable source of the needed massive increase in electricity. Solar and wind simply will not cut the mustard. Will we see the worlds first thorium reactors? Will fusion energy save us from ourselves?

In MA several years ago they proposed putting RFID chips in the inspection stickers...
Charge road tax by the mile/weight of the vehicle...
The overhead toll scanners could then do time of day/congestion tolling...
That was how they were going to tax all the electrics who were avoiding the gas/diesel tax...
