What is this "expert" thinking? Comparing the power of the Tesla truck to a tractor is ignorant. I have seen a 90-100 hp tractor pull a fully loaded semi out of mud.
Why is it so hard for people to understand weight and torque.

Since you seem to be so interested in design aspect Barney what's your thoughts on someone who actually uses truck for work not being able to reach into bed?
What this truck needs is some custom FreetowFred rear lights, with that amount of juice he could could get the back light bars off old 80's/90's Buick. One on each side vertical! Replace all 20 bulbs with 250 watt LED, what that equvalent too, 1500 watt regular bulb times 40? Little bit of duct tape, super glue, twine and DONE!

That will fit in my Buick Lacrosse. I can get ten foot copper tubing or up 1 1/2 pvc but it's just a few inches from the front glass. The 2 inch would probably make it around the corner with a little persuasion. I can't imagine what anyone thinks when they see me at Lowes.johnjoseph wrote: ↑Fri. Dam Richard S I thought I was the only one that did crap like that.
I once got a 12' long roll of linoleum for the kitchen in my 00 impala the trunk closed and the end of the roll was a inch from the dash. I can get 7 8' decking boards into my 06 corrola.

Why not haul 16' lumber through the center?

Probably could even haul a telephone pole in the frunk.

How stupid am I.... just using the racks on my truck to haul long lumber.....or ladders.....or the kayak......or canoe...... which look to be a little too wide for the opening in that $$$$$ truck. Funny that is has no indoor plumbing yet will cost more than every house I have ever bought and will not appreciate in value.
Nice wind tunnel though, bringing in all the bugs and road debris right to you. They could have saved the extra design work and just made the windshield removeable.
The inlaws recently hit a turkey dead center of their equinox grill. think of the excitement you could have driving on country roads with the frunk open hunting wildlife!!

The design is aimed at the offroad/pleasure crowd, like a jeep or SUV. I'm about 99.99% sure that sloped design from the roof to the rear is a significant structural component. It's basically a triangle on wheels and it doesn't get stronger than that with minimal amount of material. The giant issue is you can't reach into the bed. Designing it so you can won't be some trivial change.
