Hot Weather is GONE! Cold Weather is IN!

The 6.0 Chevy engine is really enjoying the coal weather.

This thing is still running GREAT! Now I need to find more time to drive it.

Yesterday I ordered a used throttle body to try out. Since this manifold accepts a drive by wire, not a drive by cable TB I had to get an adaptor to convert it. I also ordered a New, Bigger air filter. The one thats on there I just slapped on 2.5 years ago and never got around to changing it.

This morning I decided to try to solidly mount the shift knob to the shift lever that comes up from the tunnel. From the factory, its mounted with rubber.

I removed the rubber and drilled and tapped the knob to accept a 1/2" -13 clamp bolt.

When I test drove it I couldn't believe how much better it shifted! :o

The shift knob is made out of some kind of pot metal so my threads may not hold up too long. Now that I know this works I can come up with something that will last longer.

Porsche 944+Chevy V8 Project DONE!!!???

Over the past week I permanently mounted the shift knob to to shift rod with a through bolt and the clamping bolt. That in conjunction with the "Only944.com" shifter parts gives us a 100% solid shifter and it feels great!

We also got the New Used stock throttle body and the 4 bolt to 3 bolt adaptor. I had to cut off one of the water pipes and do a little grinding near one of the bottom bolts to get it to fit. On this engine, the water pump is close to the TB.

This TB has reduced the Po-Go-ing at low speed, low throttle opening but didn't eliminate it. At some point in the future, if it really bothers me, we will swap out the light steel flywheel for a stock heavier one. I think that will settle it down.

Here is my cheap ebay 92mm throttle body that we have been running for 2.5 years. And the 85mm, throttle by wire TB that came on the engine. At some point in the future we might try a different fuel injection system that supports throttle by wire so we will keep this around.

At this point I think we can say this engine conversion, suspension, brake upgrade is DONE!

We have a complete running, driving, legal car that accelerates, stops and goes around turns better than it ever did!

Other than the normal, 30+ year old car maintenance / repair items and the occasional upgrade, we are DONE!

Thanks for going along with me on this 3 year ride! :D

Thanks! And thank you all for coming along for the ride!

Today we are doing some Black Friday Shopping at Renegade Hybrids and Only944.com.
One thing I missed at Only944.com was the rear hatch bushings to fix my squeaky hatch. I'll get them tomorrow!

3 weekends of rainy and cold weather!

Finally today it was kind of dry out.

I checked the oil, coolant, brake fluid and tire pressures. Then went for a short ride.

Time For The Winter Update!!!

Well, it hasn't been much of a Winter down here. The only snow I've seen was on the Crown Vic one morning after a dusting. Nothing on the grass or the road. Also the only real cold weather we've had was back in December.

That being said, we haven't had any real Winter shutdown where I put the car up on jackstands and work on something major. I just take it out for a ride once in a while. :D

Speaking of which, today was one of those days!

Thanks for the ride, Don! Sweet sounds.

My family lived in York County until 1965. We had endless big snows there in the 50's and 60's. Ice skating all Winter as well. A lot of recent Winters in Berks, the lakes haven't even iced over to a safe point for skating and ice fishing.
