Interesting interview.......I hope he is right and batt technology gets to 1,000 mile range and costs come down to an affordable level without me subsidizing their profit levels.

I laughed out loud when he stated cars don't rust out any more. I replayed it twice to make sure i heard correctly and got to laugh again. I guess if you live in sunny southern CA where road treatment for ice & snow isn't an issue and have a pit crew to rinse and blow dry your car after each time its used then rust is a thing of the past.

Really no reason for 1000 mile range , would not be needed

by over 99% of all trips that people make each day , and would

make car too expensive. 300-400 would probably do 99.9% of

all auto use.....

Already have buses that can go 1000 miles per charge , but what

about the driver ????

Funny that he likes electric as he has stated in several interviews that the Ford Model T he owns is his favorite because of its simplicity, with lack of gadgets, nothing it doesnt need on it to run.

To me,the Auto Market has always been self-bearing. If it's built right,if it works, and if it's affordable,You won't be able to build enough of them...

Another true story from a misspent youth.. Cut to Cornwall England 1967. Starving student gets a summer job playing piano at Hilltop hotel. Mercedes 180D manual with many many miles on the clock. No local Merc agents. I rarely left the hotel, food, booze, beaches and women ... why leave. One day I went to start the car . no crank. The dynamo was dead.

I removed it and mailed it to the Merc agent 300 miles away in in Southampton to fix. The summer ended, Bump started the car down the hill ... close call, I thought it was not going to start. Drove 300 miles. no brake lights or signals. Refueled with the engine on. They fixed it while I waited, service with a smile..... and home for dinner. Great car. 0-60 times were about three weeks but hey, it worked.

Try that in an EV.

Already on roadways under testing with "safety" operators. The "vision" is to have driverless vehicles including "platoons" of trucks. https://www.aecom.com/markets/transportation/conn ... -vehicles/
