and Freddy, just the vehicle I want to be driving through the Black Forest in January when it is -35*. I still want photos of BB driving on Route 90 in the middle of winter as 50% of available range in his Bolt is sucked up just keeping warm. All this EV nonsense is not, and never will be, a product for the Northern wild areas. Let us guess how many EV motorbikes will be spotted going from Erie to Buffalo in the middle of winter on Route 90 in say 10 years as the world goes electric. It is reserved for Kennybunk tourists for the 2 week sailing season and of course Orrington playboys who just want an EV to mess with as a play vehicle. :D Even in the 2 week season can you outrun the black flys as they splatter all over your goggles?

Of course, that means having a lot of spare coin as it is just an extra car. You know, like a Wall St financier or being a moderator on a coal board ... hahahahaha, I just crack myself up.

Oh BB you little devil you. While I acknowledge your extensive knowledge of EVs, it is a little insulting that you don't think I know the approximate ranges of todays EVs. Everything I stated stays.... not a NE/winter car. However, I wish you luck with your car.

Ah newbie, once they put charging stations every 50 miles on the major routes, using solar, wind, and unicorn farts for energy, you will be able to travel across your state in maybe a couple of days or more. Takes 12 hours to charge one, with a fast charger. Just build "off the grid" hotels and casino's and other entertainment at each station.
Funny, I have been going thru the original "scrapebooks" of my wifes grandmother and her sister. They traveled extensively for a couple of country girls from East Machias, ME. Even went on a bus tour all the way to the West coast and back. When they drove, they kept meticulous records of the money spent for gas, oil, meals and lodging. This was back in the early 30's before the Interstate.

Were not talking 1909 batteries but modern Li ion batteries...

"That leads us to charging. They say that their 800-volt system will enable the Porsche Taycan to reach a charging capacity of 350 kW – more than twice Tesla’s current leading charge rate of 120 kW."

"Porsche says that it will result in “adding 400 kilometers in roughly fifteen minutes.”

250 mile @ 70 mph Almost 4 hours...

"Porsche says that they are currently “laying the groundwork for series production”, which they still aim to start in “late 2019.”"

"They have previously discussed a production capacity of 20,000 units per year, which is quite significant for the luxury automaker."

They have doubled to 40,000 for 2020 because first 20,000 are sold out for 2019.

Barely time for essential and your on your way...at the rest stops...

Pipe dreams tend to vary alot based on what gets put in their pipe. :baby:

Still waiting for EV's to get beyond one percent of the new vehicle market share so we can then be certain that ICE engines are obsolete.

So the race is on... CN on his galloping horse vs an EV. My hay feeding times are quicker than that. Yep, we sure have made progress in 100 years. If we can get a fresh horses supplied like we used to be able to, I will win for sure. I told you all the future is equine. If Miss Occasional Cortex can handle the EV charger business end of things my future is golden. Once recharging companies try to set up shop in NY she will drive them out.

I seem to remember discussions about charge rates and the amount of energy needed to supply higher rates. What pray tell is going to deliver this amazing amount of energy in remote places? Creating a hypothetical in a laboratory and making it work is a far cry from the outside world.

Yes sir, I should have realized that. Sort of liking talking economics with Occasional Cortex.
