I wouldn't want to be stuck in a snow bank in the Blacks Woods in ANY vehicle! 'Specially near dark! The thought sends shivers up my spine.

I think Ford will make a plug in hybrid truck.

A member of Hearth.com drives his Electric GM bolt around in Sub Zero weather all the time. Gets reduced miles, but at 238 all electric miles to start, i guess theres enough to spare.

Go for it, just don't get stuck in the nether regions of Maine in it. Plus, it don't even make sense down here with nice temps and cheap electric....

If you really need an electric car and you live in the north where it gets damn cold why don’t they put an espar heater in those vehicles as a cold weather option? I think that would be the most efficient way to make heat in a cold climate. I guess once you join the EV cult you cannot burn fossil fuels even to save your ass from freezing to death.

My Bolt EV has a low range of about 160 miles in below

0* weather still plenty for most drivers. Average per day

car use is 38 miles so still plenty of capacity. There are buses

with large batteries that have gone over 1000 miles on a

charge. Choose the right vehicle for your need....

Thats a great idea. A little pricey, but that little heater would save a lot of miles and could also be used to heat the battery pak saving more miles. Making heat of any kind really kills batteries.

No talk about subsidies? I'm sure that has a significant impact on why this is being built. Ford is lagging way behind on capitalizing on the subsidies. This is a new twist to boost sales.

"Currently, automakers get a $2,500 to $7,500 subsidy in the form of a tax credit for consumers for their first 200,000 electric vehicle sales. EV maker Tesla has already hit the cap, GM will hit it later this year"

Meanwhile, the 2020 Super Duty gets a new 7.3 liter gasoline V8. Likely the most powerful gasoline engine ever offered in a pickup truck.

This is perhaps the No.1 reason GM will kill the volt.

The other car companies provide the money by building

inefficient vehicles. Maybe all the companies together could

throw in 500 million a year to help Uncle Sam ?????

Choose the right vehicle for your need....
Now you are getting it. And an electric F-150 is not it, for almost anyone that actually needs a truck. I think a good start would be to ban ICE vehicles in the Liberal cities, let them have just what they want to saddle country folks with. See how fast the power shortages occur. And other supply shortages when they can't power their green rides.

Power shortage is no problem... Its the 5000+ # Truck for 1

person to go 20+ miles to work in.... @<20 mpg.....

I bet 90% of the time the truck bed is empty...

Even when yur hauling something 50 % of the trip is empty. If you only have one vehicle, and you need a truck, living with 20MPG is far far cheaper than buying a 2nd vehicle just for the time when yur NOT hauling something. Especially at $2.25 a gallon.

Power shortage would happen over night when everyone plugs in their "lectric" ride. You have a very narrow mind when it comes to who needs trucks"me" and who actually drives them. There are many people that could be found with a death board, like the medical ones, that determined ones need.....The gov that has this power will not stop at forcing you to drive a Bolt.
