My house is, by virtue of insulation and some input of heat. A battery compartment could likely be even better insulated, and is certainly a smaller volume.

Ah RB, thx for that perfect analogy, a real logical argument. So as I am not on board with the latest badly thought through ideas on energy or transportation that is wasting lots of my taxation money, I must be anti everything.... Yep, once again, this sounds very familiar.

I won't hold my breath, but I'll keep watching. It would be cool if they actually pull it off. With 10 times lithium power it could probably keep it self "at room temperature".

At 10x efficiency instead of storing about 100kwh as the best ones do now, it could store 1000kwh. So as we do not run it down to zero to protect the batteries, we only have to recharge 500kwh. Overnight at 10 hours that is a charging rate of 50kw and that is 200 amps. My whole service to my house is only rated at that. I hope that they leave me enough juice to recharge my cell phone. Oh yeah, REALLY practical. I see a big future for this technology.

I'm with you and Paul. Announcements are one thing, but the wheel is still square. But eventually some of these breakthroughs will really work. Who would have predicted the transistor or the LED ten years before their time, except those folks who were working on them?

Keep in mind this property, along with 'high potential energy' also fits the definition of most explosives.

Many times these paths converge. Hence the safety issues with newer battery types. Can you image how the 'Hydrogen storage cells' would react to a fire?
