Why are they ordering thousands of Electric Trucks...

They are not dumb but see the future...

https://www.ttnews.com/articles/ryder-buys-900-co ... les-chanje

"The EVs can travel more than 150 miles when fully charged and have the potential to help FedEx save 2,000 gallons of fuel while avoiding 20 tons of emissions per vehicle each year. The maximum cargo capacity is around 6,000 lb. All of the EVs will be operated in California."

2000 x $3.50 = $7000.00 per year fuel savings alone....

I believe that Ryder had previously ordered 500 of these in 2018...

You make it sound like electricity in California is free. I'll bet my sister in Carmel Valley wishes it were,..... and that she wouldn't have anymore of those rolling brownouts.

But now they can all look forward to even more brown outs. Interesting how that term matches the color of the UPS trucks. It's like they knew there'd be a connection. :baby:

Yeah, real smart !

Yep, they could be wrong....companies make really stupid decisions all the time....

See Sears, KMart, GE, IBM, Apple, Coke, any one of a dozen financial houses, etc. etc. etc.

Time will tell if their investment pays off in reduced operational costs or if it ends up being a corporate accounting write off.

Okay, so how much ROAD TAX are they paying per mile? ZERO!!!

So require ELD and tax them per mile...here at PA, that is $.50/gallon = 10mpg = $.05/mile.

Not equitable to make all other drivers bear the tax burden of fixing our roads.

END THE SUBSIDIZING OF EV's!

Business does not pay taxes.

Only the end user (consumer) does...

Road tax here in NY is by vehicle weight also.. not just fuel type.

I will never see EVs here in the trucking industry.. they can’t handle “little Siberia”.

Yes ok all diesel fuel type engines pay a fuel tax.. I fixed my previous post.

I’m talkin about NYS HUT, Highway Use Tax that every commercial vehicle over 18,000 pounds has to pay to travel any roads in NY.

So even if you use a electric commercial vehicle, over 18,000 pounds is going to pay a highway use tax.

I see what you mean, but as we shift more vehicles to electric they will have to replace the fuel tax somehow.

Have to wonder how much of a subsidy they are getting.
Seems like electrics like California, and California likes electrics,
of course I know that years ago most of there electricity came from out of state don't know about now.

They’ll just jack up the HUT, then the poor folks with diesels engines will have to pay the higher HUT plus the fuel tax!
