Electric Vehicle Charging Stations coming to four plazas

In yet another example of Ohio staying ahead of the curve and preparing our state for the future of transportation, we announced plans this week, along with Electrify America, to install the very first electric vehicle (EV) charging stations along the Ohio Turnpike.

The charging stations will be located at the Wyandot and Blue Heron Services Plazas in Genoa and at the Indian Meadow and Tiffin River Service Plazas in West Unity.

These sites were chosen to meet the needs of turnpike customers where electric vehicle demand is projected to be the most significant in the near-term. These locations also tie into Electrify America's existing and growing nationwide network featuring ultra-fast charging.

Each station will feature four charging dispensers that offer 150 to 350 kilowatts (kW) of power and can charge a vehicle at speeds up to 20 miles per minute – seven times faster than today’s most commonly used 50 kW fast chargers.

Our modern Service Plazas are the perfect place for these new charging stations, allowing customers to charge their electric car up quickly, grab a bite to eat or a cup of coffee and get back on their way. Look for them beginning in the first quarter of 2019.

Oh MG that is so inspiring. So when it is colder than a witches mammary gland there and the purely resistive heating systems (that barely work in a Tesla S right now), just kill all range predictions, I can wait for hours in the snow storm to get recharged. Sometimes a stupid idea is just that... You know sometimes a cigar is just a cigar and no more explanations are needed. EVs are not a product for NE winters period.

She is the one who convinced my wife and I to get AAA.

She plans to drive it only too and from work, and her workplace has EV charging stations. She works at Honda's engineering division in Marysville, OH. She would get a Honda discount in addition to the governments $7,500 handout. She is talking of only making the move to EV in a few years, when it comes time to replace her current vehicle. And I presume that she is aware of what Honda has plans for in the EV pipeline for a few years out.

still waiting to see which state is first to figure out we are not getting any gas tax from the electrics&try to put a road tax on them. somebody has to fix the potholes& we need your money

This was in my fuel newsletter a couple days ago. It's about time too. Out of Washington....

"Electric Car Tax
Legislation has been proposed on the Senate which would eliminate a tax credit for electric vehicles and ensure that owners of electric cars pay into the federal high transportation fund. The "Fairness for Every Driver Act" terminates and repeals the federal electric vehicle tax credit up to $7,500 per new electric vehicle purchased for use in America and imposes a federal highway user fee on alternative fuel vehicles."

Now just maybe VT could be the first to adapt some form of road tax for EVs. Nahh....just kidding.

I have no objection to a road tax because the savings on fuel pay it

quickly. What we need is a carbon tax similar to what Canada is

currently doing , but return the tax to people that spend to eliminate

as much carbon as possible.

I agree Fred! The only time i ever got taxed money back was when Ventura was my Governor, and thru the IRS of course. Give them $10 and they'll ask for $20 more.

If lucky enough to have a savings on fuel, it will be needed to pay the extra cost of the EV, or for expensive repairs down the road. There would not be a savings where I live and probably not where most others live. they are mostly for greenies right now, or a select few with low rates like you have Barney. And of course for salesman who are selling them.
