I hope Benny doesn’t mind that we hijacked his thread, but I love it. Rufcar, did you say that it is your father that owns Walcks, or did I mis-understand? I will be ordering from them often when I get this CJ5 project on the move. That is awesome that you have restored that many Jeeps, I would love to see those sometime if you still have them and if not then pictures are great too.

Here are pictures of my 2004 TJ Unlimited after a fresh bath today. This is my “baby”... they were only built in ‘04, ‘05, and ‘06. I’m the 2nd owner and it has 70,000 miles, 4.0 & automatic with overdrive. I have loaded it up with heavier bumpers, aluminum Mickey Thompson wheels & 31” BFG’s and several other goodies. I am never done with it though.

I would likely send the wife packing before I could part with this one. I like brunettes but I really love my Jeeps!

Well mines dirty so I’ll wait for a bath to post the pic. Driving a 2013 JKU Sahara, don’t see myself driving anything but a Jeep in the future, on the look out for the ‘right TJ’ for the Mrs. not serious but we look every couple months....too much house work to finish before thinking about a resto but I’ll look at all of your pics! Keep me coming!

Coaljockey, No Carl Walck and I have been jeep friends over 35 years. Honest as the day is long, knows the subject matter better than most but they cater to pre 70's jeeps mostly. Nice Tlj way too new for me. I did an 89 YL last yr on a whim , I wont do that again. I turned a rusty junk bucket into a nice daily driver but it took a lot of hours and I sold it I broke even on the parts and sucked up about 200 hrs labor. I attached the last 4 I did . `st os the 89 yj then the 61 truck , 49 wagon someone added the steel panels over the windows I repained and finished the inside like the wagon. ;asy was a 73 cj 5 I made into a street/offroader with racing seats 5 point harness. All the others were along time ago not sure I have pics but 17 years ago I did a fantastic 59 Pick up better than factory and 56 wagon the same way I used the wagon as a wedding car in Carls wedding with 5 other jeeps! Last one II just found my all original 46 farm jeep never on the road, with 3 point hitch and the 59 truck I told you about. All sold have zero now!

This Thread just gets better and better! Dad had a '71 CJ-5 with the Buihog 225 V-6 in it. It was involved in the Kaiser to AMC Ownership changeover days. Made for some interesting times with a Prestolite Charging System. The damned thing slowly dissolved to a rust pile in the driveway due to salt use here. I taught myself to drive stick in that thing after fixing it. It was on the South Shore of Kelley's Island, and was facing into a storm that hit. The damned Prestolite Distributor always seemed to have a poor seal on the cap. A hairdryer worked wonders! I was15,no license, but damnitt, learning to drive stick was never so fun! Thanx,Guys, for triggering some Great Memories!!

Well I was in the garage and thought I’ll start the Jeep, fired up the starter keeps going turned the key off nothing still running. Turns out it is the starter solenoid sticking. NAPA 11.88 cheap fix !

I had that happen once with a big Cat diesel. Problem was the engine started and I did not know starter was still engaged to the ring gear. Got out of the truck and heard a strange sound and walked around to see. Starter was howling and already starting to smoke. No amount of banging on it worked. I did not dare shut the truck off since it was below zero and I did not want to change the starter in the snow bank. Had to wait a few minutes for it to build up air pressure Soni could release the brakes and pull it in the shop. Only thing salvageable on the starter was the housing.

That is scary when that happens. Ive had it happen enough that I keep a wrench on my dash for a battery post to get it disconnected quick.

Model A Fords were famous for bendix drive hanging up in flywheel. fix was get out the crank or put in third gear & rock the car to break loose.

Found this little fella while searching for Bronco's. I had never seen one of these and just had to have it! It's a 1972 Jeep Commando. I just purchased a 2000 6.0 LQ4 with a 4L80E transmission to throw in it. Should be a fun build.
