Those crews had balls the size of watermelons.

Having been belted in and the hatch closed, in a restored functioning turret, was NOT fun in the least bit. I cannot imagine being in it and having to deal with pissed off Luftwaffe Aces defending their homeland 😳

The average life of a ‘17 ball gunner was 10 minutes after they were over the English Channel 😬.
