1000+ HP? How well does the drivetrain handle that? Automatic transmission? Rear axles and studs? I think the bulk of those (what are they making...200 or so cars for the public?) cars will go into a garage and never be driven. Investment only. I'll race one against my 65 tri-power GTO........on street tires, on the back 40.

It actually has the IRS in it, the shafts are huge. 3.08 gear as I understand it. The lug nuts are capless so tech can see the studs.joeq wrote:1000+ HP? How well does the drivetrain handle that? IRS? On a drag car? Why would that be needed? Something else for the factory to install to try and justify the $80K price tag. And 3.08s in the rear? Those use-ta be highway gears. How is that beneficial on a quarter mile car? Unless the tranny gearing is so low in 1st and 2nd to pull them. I don't know. I guess the cars are suppose to be 10 second or better in the1/4 mile. May be impressive, but sorry, these new fangled computer cars don't excite me. People sitting around the pits, with their lap tops on the roofs, trying to figure out fuel curves and boosts. I miss the days of carburetor tuning, timing adjustments, valve lashing, and hi-compression. Hell, about 50 years ago, Chrysler sold the Hemi 68 darts which were 10 second cars, in those days. Even the 64 427 dual quad Ford Thunderbolt Fairlanes were about the same times. So here we are, in the future, with all the technology, and they're boasting about the highest HP of any time. It seems to me, they just made them much more complicated. But in the new hi-performance cars defense, they will do it with better gas milage, and cleaner burning at idle and cruise. (JMHO)

The IRS isn't needed, I'm amazed it works that well. The car runs 9.60s at 140, NHRA says it can't race without a cage at 9.99 or lower. The thing is 0-60 in 2.3 seconds IIRC. It has an 8 speed trannsmission too, must help with that gear.
Keep in mind, this car has AC and weighs in at 4280#. It is not a lightweight drag car built just to race as the Super Stock Hemi Cudas and Thunderbolts were. Comes with a bumper to bumper warranty and it covers racing it if you don't play games with it.

I certainly have no interest in ever owning this car..
BUT..
I wouldn't try making lite of it's capabilities either..
It has set a bunch of records..
B4 making fun of it,one should read all the info about it .
