Be patient Larry, the fat lady still has yet to sing and while I see Tesla as nothing more than a fad, I too believe that it is likely far from over.

Eventually reality sets in as intellectuals must learn the basic principals of economics while trying to convince the public to abandon the tried and true. At the present time the supply is more than demand and we all know a public traded company will not loose stockholder confindence and be a sustainable force in the automobile market.

The backbone of any factory-direct marketing system is inventory... demand needs to always maintain just at or above levels of supply to support a healthy marketing system. I not only wrote but also currently sell a book about a long gone farm equipment manufacturer (Field Queen Inc.) who utilized a factory-direct marketing approach worldwide. While it worked very well for them earlier on, it became very apparent when the farm crunch hit in the late 70’s that the kiss of death is near when supply exceeds demand on any factory-direct marketing system.

My prediction is that if the current trend continues, Elon and the board will be searching for another company that may do a friendly takeover by purchasing shares to gain a majority. I do not believe it will go away at once but likely be a more slow and painful death.

Tesla cannot operate in the red and really needs to post profitability if it wants the public to see it as a sustainable entity:

Korean cars are burning down at record rates...

Why worry about Tesla when these gas engines self destruct and catch fire?????

Three (3) million of these cars on the road need to be fixed ???

"Try 17 every hour in the United States, between 2006 and 2010. That's more than 150,000 annually, which kill some 209 civilians every year". One every 4 minutes 24/7.

I don't think Kia is being touted as the wave of the future and the be all to end all technology. Just a cheap car.....something you can't say about Tesla.

Tesla cutting over 3,000 workers in cost-saving m ... ndex.html.

3,000 people? Ouch.

“Our products are too expensive for most people”, said Musk. Ya think??? Old man Henry didn’t build an empire by manufacturing cars that 3% of the population could afford, but reality hurts.

Hey Barney - See if you can get me a good deal on those tent buildings he is using for assembly lines when they downsize the plant. I could use something to keep the snow off my coal piles and my best good buddy wants another heifer barn.

I wonder what sort of highly toxic fumes are evolved from a lithium battery fire? Lithium burns when it comes in contact with water. Spraying water on a lithium fire is almost like spraying gasoline on a fire.

and if you are towing truck driver, would you want one in the bed even if it appeared to be out. A few zillion dollar lawsuits will dampen demand.

Yes Kevin, right on the money. If the company goes belly up the Chinese will buy the remains. Can you imagine the screaming from the left. Like Globull warming solar panels etc. etc. etc. that are now religions, it can't and won't be allowed to fail. Tesla cars have become a socially desirable asset like a boat you never use. In fact, as they become more expensive than gas cars to run they will be like Mercedes owners who boast I must have the best or nothing. Mans stupidity knows no bounds.
