I can't believe he calls that ugly POS a truck!! where is the bed? I would be interested in a EV when I can tow 23,000 LBS for 700 miles without stopping to recharge!!
I think they should be looking into a diesel-eletric option( like a modern locomotive ) with batteries for instant acceleration and not an all electric, hell with that you could go cross country without stopping as long as you had a funnel with a hose through the floorboard :D .

I guess it was steel balls thrown at the window, not rocks, and I'd say he lobbed them and didnt throw them hard.

If you didn't see the hammer demonstration check it out.

  • It's a dead blow hammer.
  • They strike the regular truck door with side of hammer which of course negates the dead blow affect.
  • They are striking Tesla truck with much less force.
That said I would expect some damage on regular truck compared to the Tesla even with the light blows but the comparison is a farce.

What would be awesome is if Ford or Chevy had laminated glass on one of their vehicles and could demonstrate it doesn't break with same demonstration, that is not out of the realm of possibilities. They are using laminated glass in side windows increasingly so this isn't something really new. If the glass in the Tesla vehicle can withstand 9mm that is just because it has more layers. It's certainly beneficial in preventing objects or even small caliber bullets from coming into the compartment but the drawback is you may not be able to get out of the compartment if it requires breaking a window. Not sure which one would be more advantageous.

His biggest advantage with that truck is the price. Urban folks that dont drive much and think it looks neat might be drawn to it to save 15K over the others. The others really dont look that great either. Then after they start selling ok the fires will begin and that will end them.

Or at least come up with something that could grab more than 2% of the market share after over 20 years of trying to sell EVs on the market.

In that same time period, …. look at how much of the market share ICE SUV and AWD vehicles have increased.
