Then it's time to start ramping down the federal involvement. You can't argue two sides of the coin. If it's competitive product the market will decide, there is no need for mandates, tax incentives and policies that are intended to harm gasoline powered cars.

Direct federal tax incentives to the oil industry are small fractions of one penny per gallon. To put this into perspective the revenue of Exxon by itself exceeds these tax breaks in a few days.

Meanwhile the federal government is collecting 18 cents per gallon and the states are collecting somewhere in the range of 20 to 50 cents. This I will add is another subsidy to electric cars since they typically do not pay anything to account for their use of the road.

You can make try and make arguments about this all day but if you actually look at the numbers you will quickly realize it's a really dumb argument.

Any car that requires playing with a computer screen for the simplest actions is a hazard on the road. Should be banned just like using a call phone is.

LOL! Drive much? I could arrest people all day every day for cell phone usage. It is so rampant that almost every driver I see is using their phone. Have you seen the new screens in modern cars and trucks? Full touch screens and almost as big as a laptop, as big as some of the smaller ones. We mandate TPMS systems and side and back and forward radar and auto slow down, and match speed systems, but put a big distraction right in the middle.

Bores me to tears, and can't wait when I don't have-ta experience this type of news anymore.

I am very calm Fred. I have heard enough of this bu!!sh7t for a lifetime. The only way for electric to work is if no one is using it.

Really shows the need for new infrastructure to replace the outdated system

we have now. Build more solar and battery farms to utilize all the sunshine

they have available for the taking.

Electric cars can also provide some of the backup power for their owners when

a power outage happens. They can also charge from the solar panels during

the heat of the day if enough were available .

We also need more research into the 2 sided solar panel where the top and

bottom both produce energy , would work well in snowy climates where a lot

of energy is reflected to the back side of the panel especially with multi-junction

cells and multiple layers to convert all (~86%) of the light to energy.

How many miles do you drive each day of the week?

How many miles per year?

I don't need a vehicle to go more than 50- 70 miles per day

but the car which is fully charged at night each day to ~260

miles can go 4-5 days without charging , but why do that

when its a 5 second job to plug in each night?

For most people a car with 250 miles and up can do 95% of

all their driving, especially if they work 8+ hours each day.

For long trips a vehicle with faster charging is ideal , so those

with 150kw and up speed are best.

Lets say the power goes out and you use the energy to heat your house and etc.....how do you drive to work the next day?

Knowing I could for example get into my car and drive to Philly because my Mother was unexpectedly placed in the ICU and the person there with her can simply get in the car and return home without even stopping for gas is a very comforting thing. I don't have the need to drive far often but that option is always there. Fill up with gas, drive 6 hours, fill up again and I'm on my way....

If you have a two car family one of them being electric is an option but I'd probably opt for the gasoline powered truck instead like I have now. It mostly just sits there but I have always had a truck as spare vehicle because when you need one, you need one.
