The model garage stories were a regular feature in Popular Science magazine.
Each month Gus Wilson would manage some hard to find car repair.
But the stories were far more, redolent of a time past that in some ways never existed but that we wish that did. A charm, naivety, and simplicity, no longer seen. From the late thirties through WW2 and the sixties I loved them then and find I still do since discovering that there is a Popular Science archive that has enabled me to again read them. Give it a try.
