The battery size of the Tesla semi is almost 900 kwh. A Tesla car has about 50 to 100 kwh battery. If it takes over 10,000 gallons of water to put a Tesla car fire out imagine how fantastic a show when the first semi goes up in flames. If it takes a fleet of trucks or a warehouse with it it could be the end of the line for the Tesla semi. We shall see how disruptive this technology will be and in what ways.
If elon were smart, his next project would be to create a fire extinguisher for batteries. That's a lot of juice, 900kWh.

Electric rates just went up again so have to refigure that $200000 savings over again and dont forget to include the replacement battery cost this time for something used as hard as a Semi truck . What? It cost $150000 to replace? Yikes there goes the savings.

This won't be a concern when we go away from fossil fuels. There will be no increase on electric rates because all power plants will be electric, producing electric using electric which is clean, electric which is 500% efficient which is electric which is free from nature and 500% eco friendly which will also rebuild the ozone layer using electric free energy electric, batteries won't be needed since everything will be electric, free, and electric.

I guess those big rigs would not be welcome here.

Well at least they didn't pass a law that will force people to buy an EV,..... and then a week later ask people not to plug any in,..... like California did. :baby:

Money saved with Tesla semis not enough to save hundreds of Pepsi Co jobs. Oh well.

I hope it's a big generator.

81,000 pounds is not the load but the gross and I believe they had to get a special exemption to exceed that 80,000 pound limit on 5 axle tractor trailers. The net is what makes money. A typical 5 axle semi truck and trailer can haul around 45,000 payload.
Exactly, what is the combined weight of the unit? I bet the payload is 35,000 or less🤣 so now the shipping costs are much higher as you need to make up for shipping less product per truck🤔

And the more weight, the more wear on tires and roads,... both of which are very expensive. If EV's start paying their fair share of road wear, they won't look like much of a savings.
