However they engineer it a lousy plane and a lousy car. The cost of being rear ended or scraped at shoprite will be worse than a Bentley. The Man with the Golden Gun was the best. Pepper was how I imagine FF. :D .

I was in S England at Hamble village on the South coast for the UK launch of the Amphicar. Yes, you guessed it, the weather was a little rough and the car sank, never to be recovered. As a irresponsible teenager it made my weekend. Now I see an amphibious RV on a calm lake waiting for the afternoon thunderstorm. Guess what will happen.
I remember seeing that they were a big hit at the '64 Worlds Fair in Flushing Meadow, Queens, NY where you could rent them to ride around the "lake" there.. Work great in a calm man-made lake you can walk in. First ones to hit water with more than 6 inch wave heights and that subcompact quickly became a submarine compact. :o

If Tesla does not go profitable soon the tents may outlast the company. So it is a good move to save money.

This makes me feel sooo much better. Only international sales are allowed and they stopped selling in the US. So now I can make the car feel like it is on a racetrack .... goody goody. I must give my grand daughter one to play with. Forget Barbie dolls.

I’m not sure what good an auto-pilot is if I still need to hold the wheel, that’s too much like driving.

I would have opted for a Quonset hut over a tent but whatever you can afford I guess.

I assume Tesla will eventually be bought by a major car manufacturer for cents on the dollar.

Tesla will never go bankrupt with all the orders and technology...

They are near a new battery technology and will be incorporated

in the production as soon as ready.

From CR
Owner satisfaction is still tops, but reliability is a mixed bag: The Model S is average, but the Model X is well-below average, and among the 10 least-reliable models in our survey.
I am just not sold on a car that has a cult like following, same reason I will never buy an Apple product.

Having worked on cars for over 50 years, it still amazes me how many people say they are "satisfied" with the car they bought. After all, who wants to admit they made a mistake?

And then, when they find out how much I've worked on cars, they want to discuss with me all the problems they've had with it. :baby:

From the 2 posts following BB's glowing approval.....I would say the cherry picking continues. This is just about like the LSM reporting on the border right now.

Tesla shorts to be handed their arse in a basket...

Why would you short such a volatile stock with unlimited risk

when you could buy puts with defined risk ?

Another similar view ...

The new production line in a tent and the recent layoffs are both signs of desperation, though Musk has spun it well.

He elected to produce a nerdmobile instead of something basic and simple. If he does reach full production I suspect service will be overwhelmed with glitches.

As Paul pointed out, battery life is limited. The price I have seen for a new one is $16,000 which can buy a lot of gas instead, which puts a big dent in the economy of battery use.

Elon Musk is closing a dozen of what used to be known as 'Solar City' manufacturing facilities, as Tesla/Solar City is billions of dollars in debt and is hemorrhaging. Installed solar (by Tesla/Solar City) in the first quarter of 2018 is running at about 38% of where it was in the first quarter of 2016. This despite 30% to 40% tariffs on Chinese solar goods.

That $16K is 5000 gal of gas, or over 150,000 miles of driving. More miles than many owners keep a car long enough to break even. So there is no economy in EV.
