Green/red dots for safe/fire have long been used on firearms.
However, my last AR lower didn't. But then, I guess they didn't know what color to use for that third position.

Guess it all depends how you look at it, and then hope you are not color blind. Best way is to be familiar with your firearm and what it does and when it does it.
