This is my mom and dad that I recorded about 15 years ago when they were about 75 years old.
I mixed the vocal tracks and added a little guitar.
Then decided to add pictures to a video for family, my wife picked the photos, way to many, so I played the audio twice.

If you were ever interested in recording, it is not expensive.
Audio Interface -$200
Mic - a shure sm58 or sm57 will get you started and will always be useful.
Cables and mic stand.
Most audio interfaces come with recording/mixing software, but I use Reaper which cost $60 after a fully functional trial that last forever.
Monitoring speakers may break the bank, but to get started a decent set of headphones will work and not irritate the dog as you play the song over and over and over.
Learning curve is huge figuring out when and how to use compression, EQ, and reverb, and what sounds to include in the mix. But with youtube, you can find help on mixing opinions and how to use the tools. .I must have watched 100 in the last couple weeks.
