Won't hurt with the leather strapping on doors Jack--Is it lined with anything? Mine has felt inside--I'm guessin that also helps as far as moisture goes.

Ours are in the garage (heated) but we bought an EvaDry 500 for it. Every couple weeks or so we pull it, plug it in to dry it out, and start over. Works well I guess, no rust so far.

Jack,I don't understand about the strips You speak of in Your post. However,if door gaskets are good,Your Electric Goldenrod Dehumidifier Rod should arrest any Humidity Concerns. What Brand and Model of Safe is it? What is it's Fire Rating? If all else fails, and You're still concerned, put a bucket of Damp-Rid in the bottom and close it up.
