45 ACP max sammi length:1.275" getting set to reload some Speer 230GN FMJ, and some Hornady XTP 230GN hollow points. Powder i have is W231Hodgdon/Winchester. Min load powder for FMJ:4.8GN, max 5.8GN with OAL of 1.200" either FMJ or JHP
Hornady XTP,s my load manuals show no min/max on this particular bullet or recommended OAL for it. Checked Hornady/Hodgon websites, nothing listed. Now Winchester factory FMJ,s have an OAL of1.255". The reload bullets themselves are both equal in OAL when measured.

web searches show a sammi of 1.230 for xtps in general bulletin postings. Do any reloaders out here have Hornadys newest reload manuals with any load info for 230GN XTP,s???? W231 is only pistol powder i have. using winchester brass, cci LP primers.

Go to the Hodgdon reloading site on line. It's all there for the taking.

I'll put a link here but if it's not welcome I apologize, please take it down Mayor...

http://www.hodgdonreloading.com/data/pistol

May not work as I'm looking at it though.

Yeah, that link works to the first page. Now just answer the questions as to your setup.

the first test batch of rounds loaded. Started with the FMJ ones. set OAL at 1.230" 5.1GN W231.. will see how they feed. Then did JHP,s. they seated at 1.201 from FMJ seat depth, adjusted it back to 1.230" for them also. Same Gn weight built, same powder load. while i was doing this Dusty cat found a nice comfy spot to lay....Go Figure!

Ready to break the single year snowfall record tomorrow we only need

about 1" more . 149.1" will be topped . 12+ feet and we still have 30%

of the usual snow season to come.

I am about 25 miles East of Erie , we usually get even more snow due

to our higher elevation about 500' above the lake on the ridge line.

Please send photos of your Bolt romping through the snow. Given your location that is an interesting choice of car.

Wow, I've been away from reloading for so long that I didn't have a clue that Hodgdon now manufactures all of the IMR and Winchester smokeless powders in addition to its own.
