Any feed back on this company ??
Started back up by the original owner of Bushmaster. He waited out his 5 year "no compete" clause to build them back in Windham, ME
Looking into their AR in .223
http://www.windhamweaponry.com/pdf/NewTechSeets/C ... 15MSRP.pdf
A little more price than other models but maybe the quality and reputation are worth it.
I'm told I have been a good boy last year so looking to update my arsenal with some "nasty military assault weapons."

As far as I know they are good. The owners are worker spin offs from the bushmaster company before they were purchased. Company bought out machinists without a job. What a better way to fix the situation. Colts are also good especially for resale and might be better pricing. Are you looking to go gas impingement or piston?

Dave, either would be fine.
We are just looking for something that the grandkids can use for some plinking/target practice without optics.
And they should be able to handle without major kickback.
And some thing to handle the occasional groundhog!!
Son in law already has reloading equipment so it wouldn't cost too much to use.
I look to purchase quality products even if it costs a little more upfront. Sorta like the Hyfire II I got years ago.

You would be good with Colt even The Smith & Wesson M&P would be good. All mine are gas impinge. I have no trouble. It does get a little dirtier but its a very simple firearm to clean anyway. Lots of info on maintaining them.Rick 386 wrote:Dave, either would be fine.

Thats another way. I usually shop Palmetto State Armory when they have specials. They have some good stuff as well. I have a few of their upper assembly's.
http://palmettostatearmory.com/
This is fun too. It does require a special download of a Unitywebplayer. http://www.ar15.com/gunstruction/
If you want to get into building, buy an unfinished lower. Not an 80% lower they require machining. Just a lower with no trigger group installed. Then look for videos on Youtube. Then you can decide how to proceed with the upper. You can get them with barrel installed or complete.
Caution building Ar type rifles can be addicting and cause a strain to your mad money fund.

Rick,
A fellow car club member (with your same first name ) owns a large machine shop in Maine and he's an avid shooter. His shop - just 6 miles south of Windham- was making parts for Bushmaster before Remington bought it out. He may still be connected with, or at least know more about the new Maine operation.
PM me for his contact info if your interested in getting in touch with him to see what he may know about their new AR.

Thought I'd give an update.
I will be getting one of these in .223 http://www.windhamweaponry.com/pdf/NewTechSeets/MPC%2012-17-12%20MSRP.pdf
I was considering the .308 but was told they do kick a bit more. Don't want the grandkids to be afraid to shoot it so I went for the smaller version. There is always next year to go bigger, right ??
I have a good friend who lives 1 mile from the factory/store. He has had several built for him and his son. He is also best friends from high school with the owner's son. He says that he has his .308 shooting fine at 600 yards.
I was thinking of picking up my rifle on the way up or the way back through Windham. Then they cautioned against that, since I will have to travel through MA, CT, and NJ on the way home. I know legally I can transport it as long as I don't lay over anywhere, but why take the chance of some over zealous LEO if I should happen to meet one of them on the way home ?? So it will get shipped to my local FFL.
And we just received this nice new jem:
http://www.hornady.com/store/Lock-N-Load-AP-Press
We will now be reloading our own shells in .223 and 9mm.
It certainly will be noisy around here. Hope the new neighbors like moving in to our turf !!!!!

Windham rocks, Rick.
My ol' man and my brother both bought AR's from them. Top notch quality - can't get much better. Like Dave said, those are made by all the guys left unemployed when Bushmaster closed.
BEHOLD! The M4 MPC.
