I've gotta admit that I remember seeing the Blind robins in old time bars. Along with a variety of other long gone bar snacks. The most common one seen in my area was a huge jar of hard boiled redbeet eggs. Some kind of fresh, others not. Prices were about 5 to 10 cents a piece, later rising to 2 for a quarter. I can't look at a hard boiled egg to this day.
The weirdest bar snack I remember seeing was the huge jars of pickled goat tongues. They weren't for me, but I had a Chinese buddy that couldn't get enough of them. One dead goat represented by each of the hundreds of forked tongues in the jar. They disappeared around the end of the 70's. One old barkeep told me that the Iranians were buying up the world supply.
